Meet the Baker

Hi! I’m Regina, the baker behind Whiskful Thinking—something I never thought I’d say! Baking wasn’t a lifelong dream of mine, but it became a necessity that turned into a passion.

It all started with a problem. My family and I couldn’t afford store-bought bread that met our standards for wholesome, natural ingredients. With four kids (three with special needs), rising grocery prices, and a commitment to healthier eating, I decided to tackle something that I had always thought was too complicated and time-consuming to even consider trying—baking bread.

In 2021, I moved in with my best friends to help them with their kids and to find a fresh start in a new place. The plan was for me to stay a few months, then find my own home nearby so I could be “Cool Auntie Gina” who babysits and has sleepovers with the kids to give mom and dad a break once in awhile. But life doesn’t always go as planned. We found that our living situation worked so well for us that we decided to make it permanent and four years later, we’re still living together as one big family!

As part of our family effort to improve our diet and save money,  we started baking sourdough bread using a starter gifted to us by a neighbor. Once we'd gotten the hang of that, I started exploring other things I could make from scratch. Rolls, tortillas, pies, birthday cakes, chocolates, and more. Little by little, we’ve replaced heavily processed foods with homemade alternatives. It’s incredibly rewarding to know exactly what’s in the treats my kids enjoy.

Now, what began as a way to help feed my family has turned into something more. I never planned to become a baker, but I’m so grateful for this journey and the chance to share it with you. Thank you for supporting my family by supporting Whiskful Thinking.

Have the sweetest of days!

~Regina~
